The Mapuche community Wente Winkul Mapu issued a public statement before the march which is taking place from Collipulli to the city of Angol, which plans to culminate this Sunday in the prison.

The community considers it important to stress that the present march seeks the freedom of the Mapuche political prisoners and to explain the situation in which they find themselves after 41 days of hunger strike.

Moreover, the werkén(spokesperson) of the community Wente Winkul Mapu, Daniel Melinao said that they are seeking a mistrial of the racist trial in which Paulino Levipan Coyán and Daniel Levinao Montoya were condemned. A situation that has been viewed by the Supreme Court and is pending the Court's decision.

Similarly, they seek to demonstrate that 5 more Mapuche brothers are on hunger strike in prison in Temuco, "are victims of unfounded prosecutions that seek to end our territorial claims."

While Luis Melinao, werken of Wente Winkul Mapu, said that the community is also attentive to the last statements of the Minister of the Interior Rodrigo Hinzpeter, who said the government is planning to force-feed the political prisoners on hunger strike , to in this way put down the mobilization.

This measure will not be accepted by the Mapuche political prisoners and even less by the community.

It should be mentioned that different Mapuche communities in the area of Ercilla, Collipulli, Lumaco, social and students organizations have been present in this march and have pledged their support to all the Mapuche prisoners who are on hunger strike.

The march will end tomorrow, Sunday in the prison of Angol, so tonight they will spend the night on the banks of the Malleco river, in the immediacy of the bridge Santa Elena.
