PUBLIC STATEMENT
We inform the national and international public opinion, that although 21 days have passed of our hunger strike, our demands have not been heard and even less solved by the Gendarmes of Chile, which is why:
Kiñe(1): From Friday October 19 we have assumed a dry hunger strike as the only way that the state leaves us to achieve compliance with our minimum rights as inmates in the prison of Temuko.
We have complied with every bureaucratic protocol, to achieve our demands, which are:
- THE IMMEDIATE TRANSFER OF US, THE 5 MAPUCHE POLITICAL PRISONERS TO THE CCP OF THE CITY OF ANGOL, AS THE NEAREST PLACE OF IMPRISONMENT TO OUR FAMILIES.
- AN END TO THE HUMILIATING AND DEGRADING SEARCHES CONDUCTED BY THE GENDARMES OF CHILE ON OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO VISIT US.
- THE DISQUALIFICATION OF THE PROSECUTOR CHAMORRO FOR ALL MAPUCHE CAUSES, FOR HIS LACK OF ETHICS AND OBJECTIVITY IN THE PROCESSES.
However, we have received only strategies to break our strike, with no intention of solving the above.
With the main response of Gendarmes of Chile, by the word of the Alcaide of the CPC of Temuko, that this is due to political issues, and as opposed to any other inmate, in our case, they do not have autonomy to decide nor solve anything, making clear the persecution by the Chilean government of our people and our struggle.
Epu(2): In our 21st day on hunger strike and three days since our dry hunger strike, our health has suffered considerably, presenting heart problems, dorsal headache, muscle and abdominal aches, and showing a clear evidence of a decline in our ability to communicate.
Küla(3): From the prison of Temuko we ask our peñi and lamgen their maximum support and solidarity, considering and recognizing that any form of fight is necessary to achieve the freedom of our people and our territory. We ask that they day after day spread the news and accompany our families, that from the Lof they make the daily efforts to accompany us and support the demand for our rights.
STOP THE SETUPS, PERSECUTION AND DETENTION OF OUR PEOPLE
STOP THE STATE TERRORISM AGAINST OUR GRANDMOTHERS, MOTHERS, WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
