Updated list Mapuche Political Prisoners, Chile, PÜKEM, AUGUST 2016.

Currently there are 35 pu peñi ka pu lamngen Mapuche political prisoners imprisoned by the Chilean state and capitalist interests.

Wednesday August 3, 2016, by Communications Commission/ http://meli.mapuches.org/spip.php?article3390

Mapuche political prison is now a reality in Chile. Even if the state denies it, there are still cases of Mapuche imprisoned as a result of the political persecution that has been unleashed with force in the Mapuche communities. The political response of the state -through the police repression-, a national matter of both historical and political borders, has not only increased the strength of a flame that has never gone out, as the Mapuche newen and our dignity never have been undermined in the long history of our people; even less when it comes to regaining our Wallmapu.

We see how today they are developing lawsuits against our pu peñi ka pu lamngen, carried out by corrupt and racist prosecutors, protected by the wingka institutional framework that gives them the power to prosecute all those Mapuche who today fight for their territory and dignity. Many of our brothers have already been convicted unjustly; many others are now awaiting trial, while they are deprived of their liberty in the various prisons of this country; others are living trough trials these days in which the state and its prosecutors and courts intend to condemn them; and many others, have worthily assumed to go underground. It is in this context that to date there are 35 pu peñi ka pu lamngen Mapuche political prisoners, of whom we next will deliver a brief information, hoping that this will encourage support for our brothers and sisters and to show the consequences of repression by the Chilean state against the Mapuche people.

Updated list Mapuche Political Prisoners, Chile, April 2016

Currently there are 30 pu peñi ka pu lamngen Mapuche political prisoners

Wednesday April 20, 2016, by Communications Commission/ http://meli.mapuches.org/spip.php?article3379

Currently there are already thousands of hectares recovered. Many are the grains, potatoes and other products that have sprouted from the liberated territory, and many families today have a place to live and work the land. Also, day by day that territory increases where we can develop as Mapuche, practicing our own spirituality and worldview.

Even so, there is still a long way to go. Our Lof are an example to follow, our weichafe are a constant education of struggle, strength and conviction; our Machi, Longko, Ngenpin, Lawentuchefe and many other pu peñi ka pu lamngen who have the ancestral knowledge that the Ñuke Mapu has given us are our hope, because with this knowledge our people can also defend against the constant attacks of the Chilean state and the capitalist system, which we see daily in hydroelectric megaprojects, mining, in the extractivism, forestry monoculture and so on... It is in this scenario, in which now a total of 30 pu peñi ka pu lamngen are Mapuche political prisoners, of whom we next will deliver a brief information.

After 15 days of hunger strike Mapuche Political Prisoners have already lost over 10 kilos in weight

6 Abril, 2015, ANGOL, Chile

Cristian Melinao, Luis Marileo, Miguel Toro and Claudio Huentecol, Mapuche Political Prisoners, today fulfill 15 days on hunger strike inside the prison in Angol, demanding a revision of their precautionary measures and detention system.

The first two community members are serving sentences in the prison compound and were at the center of education and work (CET) of Las Rosas, but as a measure of unjust punishment were transferred to the Angol prison so Melinao and Marileo demand again to be transferred to the CET. Meanwhile, Toro and Huentecol are in preventive custody, requesting the change of the injunction by one less burdensome.

2nd PUBLIC STATEMENT MAPUCHE POLITICAL PRISONERS ON HUNGER STRIKE

At 15 days after starting the hunger strike for our just demands, we maintain our determination to continue to the end to achieve our goals.

To the National and International public opinion, to the communities in resistance, we, the Mapuche political prisoners on hunger strike, sequestered in Angol prison, declare:

Kiñe: 15 days after starting the hunger strike for our just demands, we maintain our determination to continue to the end to achieve our goals.

Epu: According to a Medical Report, conducted by Dr. Paul Millaleo, April 4, indicating:

Luis Marileo Cariqueo, "a patient with a history of having had hepatitis C two months ago, with deterioration of his health due to five earlier hunger strikes, the patient has visual disturbances, tremors when moving, persistent back pain and cramp in his legs. 9700 grams weight loss corresponding to 11, 25% of body weight".

Cristian Levinao Melinao, "patient with a history with deterioration of his health due to 8 previous hunger strikes, the patient has occasional headaches, cramps in legs and arms, occasional tremors of lower limbs, states to feel permanently cold, also has back pain and lumbar vision, occasional cough. 8400 grams weight loss, corresponding to 10, 89% of body weight".

Miguel Toro Marin: "Patient with movement tremors, frequent headaches, persistent back pain and leg cramps." Weight loss 5200 g, corresponding to 7, 13% of body weight".

Claudio Huentecol Huentecol: "Patient who has had leg cramps, occasional headache, dizziness by sudden movements, persistent back pain. Weight loss 8100 g, corresponding to 9, 64% of body weight".

Küla: That despite our health condition, our state of mind is held high, because we represent a nation that remains in resistance, even in the present unjust imprisonment.

Meli: Our demands are minimal and achievable, only by political decision of the government: transfer to the CET in Angol of Luis Marileo and Cristian Levinao, with open CET and an injunction for the peñi Claudio Huentecol and Miguel Toro.

Kechu: We hope that through the pressure and solidarity of those who support our struggle, we can achieve such fair targets.

Freedom to all Mapuche political prisoners!!!!

Four Mapuche political prisoners begin new hunger strike inside the prison in Angol, chile

This monday inside the Angol prison four Mapuche political prisoners began a hunger strike to demand the revision of their precautionary measures and detention system, these are Cristian Melinao, Luis Marileo, Miguel Toro and Claudio Huentecol.

The first two community members are serving time in the prison compound and were at the center of education and work (CET) of Las Rosas, but as a measure of unjust punishment they were moved to the Angol prison so Melinao and Marileo ask again to be transferred to the CET. While Toro and Huentecol are in pretrial detention and request the change of the injunction by one less burdensome.

Public statement by the Mapuche Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike, Angol Prison

We, the Mapuche Political Prisoners confined in Angol prison, Luis Marileo, Cristian Levinao, Miguel Toro and Claudio Huentecol, declare to the national and international public opinion that we have begun a hunger strike on Monday March 23 from 00:00, this is indefinite or until the government is to give a definitive answer, making the subsequent requests:

Kiñe: Luis Marileo and Cristian Levinao demand to be returned to the CET of Angol without special custody by the gendarmes as it was they who were responsible for harassing us, hereby denouncing that it was a government strategy to have us returned to Angol prison.

Epu: Miguel Toro Marin and Claudio Huentecol Huentecol demand the change of  the precautionary measure of pretrial detention to a less complex one for the duration of the investigations, denouncing that the political and business pressures hold us locked up in this prison, not having a serious investigation by the prosecution and where concrete evidence to demonstrate our innocence is held back by the prosecution, demonstrating once again the research inability of the supposed intelligence service.

Küla: At 2 days of holding this action we declare to be very firm in our demands, reaffirming that we will continue until the very end.

Meli: We call on the communities that are now mobilized for the recovery of the Mapuche territory, on the social organisations, to support us and demonstrate in any way for our causes as we have been unjustly imprisoned by the government thus satisfying the voice of businesses and state politics.

Kechu: To the Lof in Resistance we make the call to continue fighting, driving out the forestries and landowners who have usurped our territories.

Freedom for the Mapuche Political Prisoners!!!!
Demilitarization of Wallmapu!!!!
No more political persecution!!!!
Marrichiwew!!!!
